Expert review of the Ricoh Fax 1195L printer
This contemporary laser fax is a reasonably priced investment for a small and home offices. The Ricoh Fax 1195L is a robust machine that can transmit and receive messages fast, and it has built-in scanning features to make it more useful to users. However, its print quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Design
The Ricoh Fax 1195L appears boxy and bulky, but it actually takes up minimal desk space with a footprint that measures 368mm wide, 311mm tall, and 360mm deep, and measures 7.7kg. It has a 300x600dpi copier and a 200x100dpi fax printing engine. The standard capacity is 250 sheets, and the memory is 16MB. The operator panel is crowded but organised for easy configuration. A mono display screen is included for user-friendly operation. USB 2.0 is available for PC connectivity.
Advantages
It has a large input capacity for high volume messages. It supports G3 and PSTN. The Ricoh Fax 1195L transmits and receives messages fast, at up to 33.6kbps. Memory backup is available. There are 200 speed dials and eight group dials. PC connectivity is possible when using the Ricoh 1195L as a monochrome scanner. It is easy to set-up because of the compact frame. Sleep mode and the separate toner and drum structure make it more environmentally friendly to use.
Disadvantages
There are no telephony features. The printer can only be used with Windows operating systems, and the copier resolution is limited to 300x600dpi. The memory of the Ricoh Fax 1195L cannot be upgraded.
