The Samsung ML-2850DR is a monochrome printer that uses laser technology to deliver more efficient results. Prints remain at the same level of crisp quality throughout a run, and it can create a range of different finishes. A solid, reliable choice for small offices and homes, this machine is conveniently compatible with many paper sizes and a range of media, including envelopes, card stocks, transparencies and labels. The compact design makes it ideal for a desktop location in smaller rooms, and with a high degree of connectivity, it is easy to set up.
Design
Finished in a smooth contemporary design, and built for speed, the Samsung ML-2850DR has a monthly duty cycle of 30,000. It measures 14.3 x 14.52 x 8.22 inches and weighs 17.1lbs. The interface includes a high-speed USB 2.0 Ethernet port, along with a USB 2.0 port. Inside, a Samsung 400 MHz processor keeps each job running smoothly, and there is 32MB of onboard memory to aid in this task. The standard paper input capacity is 250 sheets, and an LED panel makes it simple to programme a run or intervene when necessary.
Advantages
The Samsung ML-2850DR prints at a speed of 28 pages per minute in monochrome on A4 paper, reaching a high resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. Efficiency is maintained with automatic duplex printing, and it is also possible to create booklets and posters. Users can purchase a second paper cassette to increase the number of printouts that can be produced before a refill is needed. To enhance productivity, the first page out time is less than 8.5 seconds.
Disadvantages
Despite an impressive array of printing features, the standard memory is 32MB, which may not be enough to manage multiple print jobs. It can be upgraded to 160MB, but this is at the user’s expense.
