A monochrome laser printer, the Samsung ML-3710 is ideal for small offices that need to create large amounts of printed materials each month. It is ideal for producing legal documents, letters, reports and guides. In terms of media compatibility, this unit can manage transparencies, plain paper, labels, envelopes and cards, as well as bond paper. Inside, there is a 600MHz processor, and 128MB of memory is supplied as standard, although this can be upgraded to 348MB. This compact grey printer is small enough to slot in on a table or desktop and will blend well with most colour schemes.
Design
The Samsung ML-3710 measures 14 x 14 x 9 inches, and it weighs 21 lb. Therefore, it can easily be picked up and relocated by two people. In terms of paper handling, there is one 250-sheet input tray, along with a 50-sheet multipurpose input tray. The output tray accepts 150 sheets, and these are presented face down. There is a duplexing unit that produces double-sided copies automatically. The printer supports software from both Apple and Microsoft but does not have wireless capability. Instead, connectivity is provided by one standard USB port and one USB 2.0 port. This allows users to walk up and print directly from their flash drive without the need for a PC.
Advantages
On the speed monochrome setting, this unit will print up to 35 pages per minute, and the time to the first page is 6.5 seconds. The standard resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi and the monthly duty cycle is a huge 80,000 pages. On the front, there is a small LCD screen that can be used to check the printer’s status and to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Disadvantages
The Samsung ML-3710 has no colour printing option, which will not be acceptable in some offices, and it is not wireless enabled.
