Designed for SOHO users, the Samsung ProXpress SL-M3820 is a cost-effective choice that improves productivity and lowers running costs with its eco-friendly performance and fast printing speeds. This upgradeable device is suitable for a growing workgroup, but the add-ons are quite expensive.
Design
The robust engine of the Samsung SLM3820 is powered by a 600MHz Cortex A5 core processor and runs on 128MB of memory. The operator panel is small and simplified with a numeric keypad and two-line LCD screen. The SL-M3820 connects directly to a computer via high-speed USB 2.0, but it can be shared by a network through Ethernet 10/100 Base TX. Paper is handled by a 250-sheet standard cassette, a second 250-sheet feeder, and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. The output bin can handle up to 150 sheets at a time. The device measures 14.4 x 14.4 x 10.3 inches, giving it a boxy yet compact form, and weighs 10.18Kg.
Advantages
The Samsung SL-M3820 is praised for high speed printing at up to 48ppm and user-friendly onboard operation with a simple control panel. Negative text is optimised with sharpened lines and distinctive thin lines because of the 1200x1200dpi resolution and edge enhancement technology. For professional documents, there are additional printing options like the multipurpose tray, N-up print, and two-sided printing. The Samsung SL-M3820 is environment-friendly with a toner save mode and Easy Eco Driver software to reduce energy consumption.
Disadvantages
To fully upgrade the ProXpress SL-M3820, users need to buy pricey add-ons to increase the memory and paper capacity. It doesn't print in colour and there are no direct printing features. The Samsung SL-M3820 does not have Wi-Fi. The output bin for the multipurpose feeder can only handle one sheet of paper at a time.
