Part of the Sharp Essentials Series, the Sharp MX-3550V laserjet machine is built for busy departments where excellent quality prints are always required. The multitasking features include printing, copying, faxing and scanning. A dual-core processor is supported by the 250GB hard drive, and signing onto a cloud-based service happens in seconds. Sharp recognises that most people now used their mobile as much as their desktop and has made it extremely easy to access information or print using software, such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. This makes the Sharp MX-3550V ideal for offices where people work from home or are out of the office for extended periods of time.
Design
The Sharp MX-3550V model prints up to 35ppm in monochrome or colour, and the image resolution is a crisp 9,600 x 600 dpi. The document feeder holds 100 sheets for single-pass duplex printing and produces 81 impressions per minute. This printer is network-ready and uses wireless to connect to a LAN or a mobile device using the Sharpdesk mobile app. Along with the standard printing system, this machine offers Adobe and Postscript 3 for more specialised jobs. The 10.1-inch touchscreen is simple to operate, with a drag-and-drop tile system that is adaptable for individual workplaces. It is easy to access the software by intuitively swiping, tapping and pinching the screen.
Advantages
With Sharp’s Auto Colour Mode, operators do not need to check regularly that the tones on a print are remaining consistent, as the MX-3550V laserjet printer handles this automatically. There is also a function that monitors the quality of a job and numerous finishes, such as booklet making, binding and stapling. Passwords and individual user IDs manage security, but if the printer is sold, the Data Initialisation feature entirely removes any remaining data.
Disadvantages
The MX-3550V Sharp printer model has many pioneering features to offer, but some offices will not need or use them all.
