Our Verdict:

Part of the Xerox Phaser high-end range of printers, the Xerox Phaser 5550N offers a range of quality features that make it a good choice for the busy office. It has a range of connectivity options, including Print With and Personal Print, as well as security features that protect your work.

Design

The Xerox Phaser 5550N has various connectivity options and there is optional duplex printing, which helps save both paper and money. Customers can also opt for a 40GB hard drive. A stacker tray can be added if required, and the unit can hole-punch and staple finished documents.

The dimensions are 64cm x 52.6cm x 49.7cm.

Advantages

The 50 pages per minute print speed is a welcome feature. The Xerox Phaser 5550N comes with three paper trays as standard, but you could choose to fit an additional three trays if desired.

The printer can handle a range of paper sizes up to A3, and different thicknesses of paper and card.

Its duty cycle is up to 300,000 images a month and there is an on-site warranty system available.

Disadvantages

A relatively high price tag will put the Xerox 5550N out of reach of home users and many small businesses. It is a large, heavy printer that will be difficult to move, so is best left in one place. Those who want a colour option would need to look elsewhere, as this is a mono machine. It also has no scanning feature.
