The Xerox Phaser 6500VDN is a colour laser printer designed to reduce waste. Unlike other many typical printer cartridges that include integrated components, it uses cartridges that contain solely toner. An impressive aspect is that if the colour toner runs out, then there is a feature that allows printing with only black. Unfortunately, the Xerox Phaser 6500VDN prints at a lower resolution than comparable models. While the first page does print faster than some others, the warm up time is still typically over 30 seconds.
Design
The Xerox Phaser 6500VDN weighs 18.2 kg. It is moderately tall and boxy; measuring around 403.5 x 425.5 x 415.6 mm. Paper capacities in both media trays are 250 sheets of paper. Various media types and paper stocks are accepted. Visually, the printer has a dark blue wave design that extends from the top to the upper front.
Advantages
The primary advantage that the Xerox Phaser 6500VDN boasts is allowing for very little waste by using toner only cartridges. Another advantageous feature of this printer is the ability to continue printing even once the colour toner has run out. This is possible with a special feature that allows printing using only black. Double-sided printing is optional, which can save on paper usage. It prints with relative speed at up to 23 ppm in colour or black. The duty cycle is nearly 40,000 images per month. Advanced features like printing overlays, posters, separator pages, and watermarks provide a professional look to any print job.
Disadvantages
Compared to similar printers, the resolution is lower and it takes longer to warm up, but the first page prints faster. Regrettably, the Xerox Phaser 6500VDN only prints at a resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. It also takes approximately 30 seconds to warm up from power-saving mode.
