Expert review of the Xerox VersaLink C400 printer
The Xerox VersaLink C400 is a versatile colour printer. The customisable touch screen, printer management and security functions and optional extras allow this printer to adapt to suit individual workplaces. This printer will produce good results in a small or home office, managing printing tasks quickly and efficiently. However, before purchasing, be sure to understand all printing needs. Printing in duplex or wirelessly will cost extra, and if the ability to scan, copy and fax is needed, additional devices will be required.
Design
The basic size of the Xerox VersaLink C400 without additional options is 491mm x 488mm x 399mm. The grey colour fits in unobtrusively with most offices. There is a 550-sheet paper tray and a 150-sheet bypass tray with the option of purchasing a further paper tray to increase capacity. The output tray holds 250 sheets, and a sensor will provide an alert when it is full. The printer is controlled from a 5-inch, tilt-able touch screen, which can be customised as required. Connectivity is via network or one of the USB ports. The ability to print wirelessly can be added. The printing speed is 35ppm, the resolution is 600 dpi and the monthly duty cycle is 80,000 pages.
Advantages
The Xerox VersaLink C400 is simple to install and includes a number of features to improve efficiency and security and the ability to manage printer operations, and security can be managed with multi-level protection. The touch screen that is used to navigate the printer can be adjusted to suit individual viewing preferences, and the options can be customised according to preference.
Disadvantages
A number of useful features are not included on a Xerox VersaLink C400, including wireless and duplex printing, and extra expense is required if these are added. This is a printer only, with no scan, copy or fax function, which could mean that the purchase of additional devices becomes necessary.
