The network-ready Brother HL-1870N is an ideal solution for small workgroups. It comes with network management utilities like Brother’s management and configuration tools and BRAdmin. An automatic duplexer is not standard to this model.
Design
The Brother HL-1870N measures 425 x 424 x 275 mm and weighs 32.4lbs. It has an LCD control panel display with 1 line x 16 digits and offers 3 colour backlight. The control panel also comes with 1 Led light along with 7 switches, including go, job cancel, back, reprint, and menu buttons. For paper-handling, a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and 250-sheet cassette are provided. Another optional 250-sheet cassette is also available.
Advantages
To help reduce running costs, the Brother HL-1870N offers power saving and toner saving modes. The print speed of this printer can go as fast as 19ppm, making it ideal for smaller offices. Aside from offering Ethernet, the Brother HL-1870N also has USB and parallel ports. Users can boost productivity with this printer as it offers automatic page layouts, like B-up, poster and booklet printing as well as watermarking.
Disadvantages
The Brother HL-1870N could be better if it offered Wi-Fi connectivity as well as a standard duplexer for automatic double-sided printing. This printer is not ideal for demanding work environments as it has limited paper handling capacity, even with the optional tray.
