A network-ready printer with a built-in Jetdirect EIO print server, the HP Colour LaserJet 5500n is an excellent choice for offices in need of a reliable workhorse that can print fast and has a high monthly printing capacity. The machine uses high-capacity toner cartridges, which means more page yields, although unlike higher models in the series, the HP Colour LaserJet 5500n does not offer auto duplexing as a standard feature.
Design
The HP Colour LaserJet 5500n has a traditional box type design that resembles most modern laser printers. The HP 5500n features a standard 160 MB built-in memory, which can be expanded up to 416 MB, and uses Ethernet connectivity as standard. The HP Colour LaserJet 5500n can also handle different types of print media through its 100-sheet multipurpose tray.
Advantages
Network installation is the main advantage of the HP Colour LaserJet 5500n, allowing multiple users to connect to the printer at the same time. The Colour LaserJet 5500n offers good speed, enough to satisfy the demands of small to medium offices. Print quality is average at 600x600 dpi for both colour and black and white outputs.
Disadvantages
One setback of the HP Colour LaserJet 5500n is its lack of auto duplex capacity, which comes standard with higher models in the series.
