Expert review of the Lexmark MS821n printer
The Lexmark MS821n is a monochrome laser printer that offers good printing speeds and high capacity printing. Designed for use in larger, busier offices, this printer is of good quality and can handle most basic printing tasks. It may not have the multi-function features of larger printers, but the print finish will make up for that and it is compatible with a variety of computer operating systems.
Design
The MS821n Lexmark has an LCD display in full colour that measures 6 cm, allowing for easy control and management of the unit. There are numerous paper feed options that can be added to the printer, but it comes with a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder and a 550-sheet paper tray. The connectivity options for the printer include standard ethernet and USB ports. Dimensions of the printer are 44.5x42.8x51 cm and it weighs 25.4kg.
Advantages
This mono printer model has been designed to handle a variety of paper sizes and types up to and including standard A4, so printing envelopes and labels is an easy task. The print speed is one of the main advantages of this printer at 52 ppm and you only have to wait 4.5 seconds for the first page to print out. The resolution is good quality at 1200x1200 dpi and the high yield cartridges will produce around 15,000 printed pages before they need to be replaced.
Disadvantages
The duplex feature found on most Lexmark printers of this nature is not available on this unit. There is no scan or copy function on this printer and this could be an issue for a busy office. There is no colour printing and the LCD panel does not have any touch screen functionality. It is also one of the heavier small printers. All of these factors reduce the versatility of this printer for a busy office.
