Expert review of the Ricoh SP 4510SF printer
The Ricoh SP 4510SF is a monochrome multifunction printer, packed with features and able to handle the heaviest of workloads in a small office or mid-sized workgroup. It offers the full range of features typical of an MSP. It is able to print, fax and scan over the network to a PC or laptop, as well as work independently as a fax machine and copier. The SP 4510SF can also be used to send scanned documents as email attachments without the need for a computer. Scanned images can be viewed on the device’s front panel 4.3-inch colour touchscreen, and files can be printed from a memory card or USB key. On the downside, the touchscreen could do with a redesign.
Design
The SP4510SF’s dimensions are 419mm x 427mm x 484mm and it weighs 23kg. The device menus can be read and operated via the front panel colour touchscreen, which can also be used to view scanned images. Multiple copying can produce up to 99 copies, with a zoom feature from 25% to 400% in 1% steps. Scanning is available in black and white or in full colour, with a maximum of 30 originals per minute for either.
Advantages
A major plus for the Ricoh SP 4510SF is the sheer volume of work it can undertake, with an ability to turn out 40 sheets a minute and a duty cycle of 150,000 prints per month. The standard sheet input capacity of 600 and maximum of 1,600 are other advantages. The SP 4510SF enables duplex printing and running costs are low.
Disadvantages
There are problem with the Ricoh SP4510SF’s menu choices on the front panel as they can be difficult to decipher. And despite the device’s scanning capabilities, it is not possible to fax from or scan to a computer via a USB connection.
