With scan, copy, fax and printing capabilities, the Samsung SCX-5637FN is a multifunction unit capable of producing a huge range of documentation. Developed for medium to large workgroups, it comes complete with a range of software that allows team members to manage the settings, check the toner and much more, right from their PC. Inside, there is a 600MHz dual-core CPU, along with 2GB of flash memory. This is integrated with Samsung’s Document Box software, a feature that makes it easier for staff to transfer images and written documents between servers, fax machines and scanners, saving a great deal of time in the process.
Design
The Samsung SCX-5637FN weighs 36 lb, and its dimensions are 18 x 17 x 17.5 inches. It is compact enough to be placed on a table or desktop, but it is a larger unit that will need to be handled carefully when in transport. The user-friendly 4.3-inch touchscreen allows staff to select the features they require for a print run, and apply the eco setting, all in a few clicks. The monthly duty cycle is a huge 80,000 pages, and one of the reasons it is so high is the anti-jam technology included inside. Using a backward friction action that is unique to Samsung printers, it reduces the number of misfeeds and incidents of picking up multiple sheets at once.
Advantages
When printing on A4 paper, this unit will reach print speeds of up to 35 pages per minute, and the time to first page out is just 6.5 seconds. Double-sided copies can be produced quickly and easily, as the duplex function is built in. The best-expected resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi.
Disadvantages
With no Wi-Fi connectivity and no colour function, the Samsung SCX-5637FN will be too basic for some workplaces.
