Expert review of the Xerox WorkCentre 6605N printer
Delivering above-par photos and graphics, the Xerox WorkCentre 6605N is a reliable colour laser multifunction printer for small and busy workgroups. Output quality is good. The default PostScript driver makes printing a bit slow, however. This bulky model takes up room and lacks an automatic duplexer.
Design
The Xerox WorkCentre 6605N measures 20 x 16.9 x 20.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 71.7lb. Its standard 700-sheet paper capacity is split between a main train (550 sheets) and a multipurpose tray (150 sheets). Optional 550 sheet trays can be purchased to increase this model’s total paper capacity. The 6605N comes with built in Ethernet and USB connectivity. Those who need Wi-Fi can purchase an optional adapter.
Advantages
The Xerox WorkCentre 6605N is an easy to use and highly intuitive multifunction printer designed for demanding offices. There is a large colour touch screen to make operation a breeze. This machine also allows users to scan to and print from USB flash drives. The WorkCentre 6605N can do everything you expect from a robust MFP, from printing, to copying, to faxing and scanning. Its running costs (including toner and consumables) are quite low compared to competing models.
Disadvantages
The 6605N’s PCL driver needs separate installation. It can make the printer work faster, but it compromises the print quality. Because the Xerox WorkCentre 6605N does not have an auto-duplexer, it can only be used in one-sided mode.
