Canon CP-200 Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon CP-200 printer

Our Verdict:
star
star-filled

The Canon CP-200 is a compact printer that is designed to print photos without the need for a PC. With dimensions of 17 x 11.9 x 5.5 cm, this printer can truly be called pocket-sized and can be used to print photos on the go. It is adjustable as to the size that it can print as well as the type of media it can print from, making it a versatile option for quick colour photos. However, because of its compact design, the Canon CP-200 cannot be used to print images in excess of 10 x 15 cm.

Design

The Canon CP-200 is a highly portable printer that weighs only 2.9 kg, which allows it to be transported alongside a camera with ease. With a USB cable, the printer can be directly connected to a camera for printing as soon as the photo is taken. The camera’s LCD screen can be used to operate the printer. The Canon CP-200 works with the PictBridge operating system, although it also benefits from other drivers, which means that it can be connected to a Mac or PC.

Advantages

The Canon CP-200 offers a convenient way to instantly print photos - the user doesn’t have to wait and connect to a PC in order to print. The quality of the photos can rival those that are developed professionally. The highly portable device is easy to use and is compatible with any camera device that supports PictBridge. Printing cassettes can be purchased to accommodate the media that is to be printed, such as stickers or card.

Disadvantages

For some reason, the prints that result from the use of a Canon CP-200 display a miniature image of the rear. Although the device prints in colour, these are limited to those that are blended from yellow, magenta and cyan.
