Expert review of the Canon Pixma MG3150 printer
The All-in-One Canon Pixma MG3150 is the ultimate home printer. Not only does it come with a scanner and copier, but it also comes with built-in Wi-Fi – perfect if you have more than one computer/laptop. With fairly reasonable print speeds and a decent quality finish, the MG3150 is a no-brainer for anyone who wants a decent entry-price printer.
Design
The Canon Pixma MG3150 is fairly compact (w449× d304×h152mm) which is good news for those of you struggling for space. The printer also comes with Canon's unique FastFront technology, allowing you to refill ink and replace paper (up to100 sheets) from the front of the device. In terms of functionality, there's a small LED screen on the top of the printer, which is accompanied by a series of basic function buttons.
Advantages
The Canon Pixma MG3150 printer is one of the most compatible printers on the home market. Not only can you connect through WiFi or a USB lead, but there's also the option to hook up Android phones, iPhones, iPods, and even your Playstation 3! Despite the low cost, print quality is decent, and the copier produces crisp reproductions.
Disadvantages
If speed is what you're after, then you may be a tad disappointed. Canon claim the Pixma MG3150 can churn out 9.2imp for monochrome printing – this is quite optimistic. Under testing, the printer failed to muster the energy to get above 7imp. Having said that, this shouldn't be too much of a problem for the home market unless you're looking to print high volumes frequently.
