The HP Deskjet 2542 is an affordable all-in-one printer with wireless printing capability. It is ideal for entry-level and home users because it is easy to use and set up. Options like XL ink cartridges can make the device cheaper to run, while versatility enables printing on a wider variety of media types, but the device needs a more intuitive paper sensor and it doesn't have the best print quality for photos.

Design

The HP Deskjet 2542 looks clean and minimalist, with a space-saving design that allows it to be placed on an office desktop or computer table without taking up much room. It has a built-in copier and scanner, and wireless LAN. There is a 60-sheet input tray and a 25-sheet output tray.

Advantages

This device prints, scans, and copies. It is compatible with newer operating systems, including Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.6. The HP Deskjet 2542 has a compact design, making it suitable for small and home offices. The print speeds range from 20ppm in monochrome and 16ppm in colour. Built-in wireless connectivity simplifies direct printing from smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other computers in its vicinity. The HP Deskjet 2542 is quick to set up and it can print on speciality media like cards and photo paper. High-capacity cartridges allow users to save more.

Disadvantages

Users who need to print a lot of photos will be disappointed with the HP Deskjet 2542 because of the poor quality in colour reproduction. The HP Deskjet 2542 is prone to errors, with reports about the device not being able to print after the first 30 pages. There are no options to expand the paper capacity.
