This printer is aimed at photographers looking for a midrange photo printer that is portable, easy-to-use, and can produce lab-quality results. In terms of speed, the HP Photosmart 385 is an improvement from its predecessor, the Photosmart 375. However, its print quality is still average at best.
Design
HP made the HP Photosmart 385 more portable with an optional battery slot. It is more lightweight than earlier models, weighing only 2.6 pounds. Standard features include a USB port for connectivity plus 4 slots for memory cards. The 32MB RAM ensures speedier prints. The 2.5-inch colour LCD display can be flipped up, so users can easily view and edit their pictures before printing. The paper feed and capabilities of the HP Photosmart 385 has also been improved; it can already print 4x12 panorama shots and 4x8 pictures.
Advantages
With the HP Photosmart 385, users can directly transfer photos from their memory card or digital camera and edit them on the spot. The swivelling LCD screen lets them preview and edit pictures using the intuitive controls. The HP Photosmart 385can produce borderless 4x6 colour photos with a resolution as high as 4800x1200 dpi.
