Expert review of the HP Colour LaserJet CM1017 MFP printer
HP's Colour LaserJet CM1017 MFP is far sleeker than most of the other multifunction printers, and is very well designed. The Colour LaserJet CM1017 MFP lacks fax features, as well as an automatic document feeder (ADF) which is useful for copying longer documents. These shortcomings, however, are made up for by the excellent quality of its exterior case.
Design
The design of the HP CM1017 MFP toner printer is quite simple. All the components that are used frequently, such as the the input and output trays, and the HP CM1017 MFP cartridges access door, are on the front part of the machine. There are two memory-card slots on the side of the printer, letting you work with your digital photos on the built-in LCD.
Advantages
Every print, scan, and copy comes out of the CM1017 MFP looking perfectly fine. Printed text is very dark and crisp, and colour images look natural and rich. The printer control panel is also extremely simple, grouping each set of functions together to make menu-navigation very easy. The fact that it has a full-colour LCD is another advantage, providing a graphical representation of data such as HP CM1017 MFP toner levels.
Disadvantages
Curved and diagonal lines show a bit of jaggedness, and shadows in colour prints may fade to black a bit too drastically. Unintended and visually distracting patterns also sometimes appear in dark areas. The plastic output tray juts out slightly, making it easy to accidentally be broken off, however, replacements are available for free if the device is still under warranty.
