The HP PSC 1510s uses HP 338 ink cartridges. HP 338 ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 480 pages.
A decent, fair-priced multifunction, the HP PSC 1510s is designed for households and offices that require quality photo printing and superior copying and scanning. It features an internal memory of 32 MB, which allows faster processing, but not necessarily quick print speeds. The HP PSC 1510s can be sluggish when it comes to printing higher quality documents and pictures, although draft speeds are pretty fast at 20ppm and 15ppm for black and white and colour prints. It does not have an auto duplexer and ADF, which could have made the machine more versatile.
The HP PSC 1510s essentially has the same components as every other PSC 1500 model. It features a PictBridge port and has a rather flimsy paper tray, which can be extended to accommodate paper media up to 8.5x11 inches in size. Connectivity is limited to the rear USB port, and the control panel is composed of a total of 8 buttons for specific printing, copying, and scanning tasks. The indicator light tells the user to load paper, reinsert/replace a print cartridge, remove paper jam, or close the print carriage access door.
The HP PSC 1510s can print photos even without PC connection, thanks to the PictBridge port, which allows direct-from-camera printing. The copier uses digital image processing, and can produce up to 50 copies at a time. In addition to stand-alone photo printing, the HP PSC 1510s also allows PC-less scanning and copying.
Expect printing to be sluggish if you intend to use the HP PSC 1510s in 'best' mode. For many users, though, the quality of the output is worth the wait. The machine does not have an ADF unit and does not support auto duplexing. It is also unsuitable for networking.
