The HP PSC 1510xi uses HP 338 ink cartridges. HP 338 ink comes in black; the black cartridge prints 480 pages.
The HP PSC 1510xi is a three-in-one multifunction that scans, prints, and copies even without being connected to a computer. It has a duty cycle of up to 5,000 pages a month, making it a suitable choice for offices with above-average printing requirements. The HP PSC 1510xi features a standard USB interface and a PictBridge port, which can be used for printing directly from a digital camera. Its lack of networking options leaves businesses searching for a network-capable and more versatile MFP.
The HP PSC 1510xi measures 6.38 x 17.09 x 11.42 inches – compact enough to fit any desktop. It still has the same features as earlier PSC 1500 models, including the high resolution scanner and digital copier, PictBridge port, easy to understand control panel, and removable scanner lid, which can be useful when scanning or copying from book-bound originals. The HP PSC 1510xi also uses 2 ink cartridges; the black can be swapped with another tri-colour cartridge for better quality photo prints.
The HP PSC 1510xi supports PC-free operation. Users can print, scan, and copy documents without having to turn on their PC. It prints at a rate of 20ppm and 18ppm in black and white and colour respectively, although this is only true for draft-quality prints. Ink tank page yields are acceptable, although heavy users may have to replace their cartridges more often, especially since the printer uses a tri-colour tank.
The HP PSC 1510xi slows down to a rate of 2.4ppm when printing in best quality mode. It also lacks fax capabilities, networking options, automatic duplexing, and an ADF. The software package is rather bloated, offering unnecessary features.
